Follow-up to: I Speak With Sylvia Browne

Browne's future appearances at the Excalibur are canceled.

Billboard for Browne's show at the Excalibur.

Billboard for Browne's show at the Excalibur.

Background

On June 22 2008, I, along with my wife and Claus Larsen, attended one of Sylvia Browne's performances at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino, as was discussed in some detail in the article "I Speak With Sylvia Browne."

In this article, I discuss some recent developments in that story.

The Story

I received an email today informing me that all of Browne's future performances at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino have been canceled.

The first place I checked to verify this information was Browne's official Lectures & Events page, and, sure enough, Browne's Las Vegas gigs, which had been listed there through at least August, were now missing.

A quick check of the "Special Announcements" window on Browne's Home Page finds the following, which has been there for a while (emphasis mine):

Sylvia will still be appearing in Las Vegas in May through August. She will also be attending Spiritual Salons in Campbell ,CA and other special events. Please check the website often and put your email address on the Email Signup on the Home Page.

So, she had been booked there through August.

A check of the "Entertainment" page on the Excalibur web site shows that her performances are no longer listed, where they used to be listed through August.

At this point, I think it is safe to say that indeed, Browne is no longer scheduled to perform at the Excalibur Hotel & Casino.

Analysis

Of course, the interesting question is: why were Browne's future Excalibur shows canceled?

Did my appearance there have something to do with it? Perhaps Browne did not wish to subject herself to any more skeptical questions. Perhaps the management at the Excalibur read the article and decided to end her stay there.

As tempting as it is to believe that my encounter with Browne had something to do with the cancellation, it seems far more likely to me that the Excalibur canceled the engagements for purely financial reasons. At the show I attended, the club was only about half full, so she did not seem to be pulling in crowds the way management had probably hoped. And in fact, emails I have received have stated that fewer and fewer people have been attending her shows since they began in October of 2007.

Whatever the reason, I am glad to hear of it, and glad that I took the opportunity to attend one of the shows before she was canceled.

Conclusion

My thanks to the email correspondent for writing, and for sharing the good news.
